Animal Chiropractic for Dogs & Small Animals in Toronto
Small Animal Chiropractic Care
Dr. Mishka Thomson provides animal chiropractic care for dogs, cats and other small animals throughout Toronto and the GTA. With an Animal Chiropractic Certificate completed in 2012, she has extensive experience working with companion animals, canine athletes, agility and sport dogs, breeders and their litters, and animals with a wide range of mobility and movement needs.
Her approach is tailored to each animal, with consideration for age, activity level, lifestyle and individual needs. Animal chiropractic care can also be used alongside veterinary and rehabilitation care as part of an animal’s broader care plan.
Who Can Benefit from Small Animal Chiropractic Care?
Dr. Mishka works with animals of different ages, activity levels and lifestyles. Her patients include family pets, senior animals, canine athletes, agility and sport dogs, breeding dogs and their litters, as well as animals receiving veterinary or rehabilitation care.
Chiropractic care may be considered when owners notice changes in their animal’s movement, mobility or comfort, or as part of the ongoing care of active and athletic dogs.
Dogs and cats of all ages
Senior pets experiencing changes in mobility
Agility, sport and working dogs
Active family dogs
Breeding dogs and their litters
Animals receiving complementary veterinary or rehabilitation care
When Might You Consider Animal Chiropractic Care?
Changes in the way your pet moves or behaves can have many possible causes and should be discussed with your veterinarian when appropriate. Some owners explore animal chiropractic care when they notice changes in behaviour, personality, mobility, movement or physical performance.
Changes in walking, running or general movement
Difficulty with stairs, jumping or getting up
Stiffness or reduced mobility
Changes in posture or the way your pet carries their body
Reluctance to participate in normal activities
Changes in athletic or agility performance
Uneven movement or favouring one side
Changes noticed during recovery or rehabilitation
Age-related changes in movement and mobility
Animal chiropractic care is intended to complement, not replace, appropriate veterinary care. If your pet is experiencing a new injury, significant pain, illness or a sudden change in behaviour or mobility, veterinary assessment should come first.
Dr. Mishka’s Animal Chiropractic Experience
Dr. Mishka Thomson completed her Animal Chiropractic Certificate in 2012 and has more than a decade of experience working with animals. Her animal chiropractic experience has included practices through the All About Dogs canine agility centre and the Animal Rehabilitation Centre, along with her own animal chiropractic practice.
Over the years, she has worked with family pets, senior animals, agility and sport dogs, breeders and their litters, and a variety of other small animals. Her experience with both everyday companions and canine athletes allows her to adapt her approach to each animal’s age, activity level and individual needs.
Each appointment begins with an assessment of your animal’s history, movement and individual needs. Dr. Mishka observes how your pet moves and performs a hands-on assessment before determining an appropriate approach to care.
Treatment is tailored to the individual animal, taking into account factors such as age, activity level, lifestyle and any veterinary or rehabilitation care they may be receiving. Dr. Mishka will also discuss her findings with you and answer questions about your pet’s care.
